Toledo, OH (December 5, 2024) – Three individuals were injured, two of them seriously, in a multiple-vehicle crash on I-475 Wednesday night that resulted in a three-hour shutdown of the northbound lanes near the Dussel Road exit. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 9:40 p.m. when 28-year-old Gibril Nasser of Dearborn, Michigan, was traveling northbound in the right lane and collided with the rear of a tractor-trailer driven by 41-year-old Mohamed Farah of Blacklick, Ohio.
Following the initial impact, Nasser’s tractor-trailer veered into the left lane, where it was struck by a sport utility vehicle (SUV) driven by 28-year-old Kari Oberlin of Swanton. Both Nasser and his passenger, 23-year-old Addam Nasser, suffered serious injuries. Gibril Nasser was transported to the University of Toledo Medical Center, while Addam Nasser was taken to ProMedica Toledo Hospital for treatment. Oberlin sustained minor injuries and was taken to Mercy Health Sylvania Medical Center.
The crash caused a significant traffic disruption, with the northbound lanes of I-475 closed for approximately three hours as emergency crews worked at the scene. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
