Tippecanoe County, IN (January 16, 2025) – A devastating single-vehicle rollover accident occurred on I-65 NB, claiming one life and leaving two others injured. Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene to provide care to the victims.
According to preliminary reports from Trooper Fike, the accident involved a 2008 Hyundai Accent traveling northbound when it veered onto the west shoulder for reasons yet to be determined. The driver’s overcorrection caused the vehicle to cross all northbound lanes, leave the roadway on the east side, and overturn, coming to rest on its roof. Tragically, a passenger in the Hyundai was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office. Their identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The driver, Framber Monserrat, 29, of Chicago, IL, and a juvenile passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a Lafayette-area hospital by EMS for treatment. Following his hospital discharge, Monserrat was taken into custody on suspicion of operating under the influence at the time of the crash. He is currently held at the Tippecanoe County Jail.
