Thibodaux, LA (December 24, 2024) – A tragic collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 24 and Louisiana Highway 311 resulted in the death of a 19-year-old motorcyclist. Louisiana State Police investigators responded to the scene to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
According to Trooper First Class Tiah Larvadain with the State Police Public Affairs Section, the preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling southbound on LA Hwy 24 at a high rate of speed. Meanwhile, a vehicle was approaching the intersection from the eastbound side. For reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle failed to stop and collided with the vehicle.
The motorcyclist, identified as Gabe Gautreaux of Thibodaux, was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the crash. Despite this, he sustained critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Unfortunately, police later confirmed that Gautreaux succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing as authorities work to determine the contributing factors.
