Terrebonne, OR (January 2, 2025) – A tragic two-vehicle collision on Highway 97 near milepost 117 claimed the life of a La Pine woman and left a Madras man in critical condition Friday evening. The crash, which occurred at approximately 4:57 p.m., is under investigation by the Oregon State Police (OSP).
Preliminary reports indicate that a northbound Ford F250, operated by 45-year-old Benjamin Troy Boynton Jr. of Madras, crossed the centerline for reasons yet to be determined. The truck collided head-on with a southbound Jeep Wrangler driven by 43-year-old Rebecka Ann Perrine of La Pine.
Perrine was declared deceased at the scene, while Boynton sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Emergency crews from Redmond Fire, Redmond Police Department, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, and ODOT responded to the scene. The highway was closed for approximately two hours during the investigation.
