Teaneck, NJ – 2 Seriously Injured in Wrong-Way Collision on Rte 4 near River Rd

Teaneck, NJ (September 16, 2024) – A wrong-way driver caused a serious head-on collision on Sunday night, September 16, on Rte 4 near River Rd, injuring five people. The driver of a 2004 BMW M3, heading east in the westbound lanes, struck a 2020 Jeep Compass at around 11 p.m.

Two of the Jeep’s occupants sustained serious injuries and were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center after being extricated. Three others in the vehicle were also injured but less severely.

The BMW driver, Emelio S. Lutchmansingh, 24, of Queens, attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended. Authorities are continuing their investigation.
