Taylor, MI (January 11, 2025) – A 15-year-old boy is fortunate to be alive after being struck by a box truck while riding his bicycle on Monroe St near the railroad tracks by Kroger on the evening of January 9. Taylor police reported the incident, which occurred around 6 p.m.
According to Cpl. Andrew Borg, the teen and his friend were riding southbound in the right lane of Monroe St as they approached the railroad tracks. As the crossing arm bars began to flash for an oncoming train, the boy swerved from the right lane into the left lane in an attempt to cross the tracks, leading to the collision with the box truck.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene to assist the injured teen. Details about the extent of his injuries have not been disclosed, but officials confirmed that he survived the crash. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
