Tarrant County, TX (December 13, 2024) – Two workers were injured in an explosion and subsequent fire at a home in northern Tarrant County Thursday afternoon. The explosion occurred around 12:05 PM in the 9100 block of S. Water Tower Road, north of Saginaw.
The workers, two males, were spraying lacquer when the explosion occurred, creating a flammable atmosphere that ignited. The force of the blast caused burns to their heads, faces, and arms. They were airlifted to Parkland Health Hospital in Dallas for treatment. Their current conditions have not been disclosed, but the injuries are described as serious.
“Spraying lacquer created a flammable atmosphere,” said Interim Tarrant County Fire Marshal David Butler. “It got an ignition source somewhere.” Authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the explosion and fire.
Firefighters from Haslet, Lake Worth, Saginaw, and Fort Worth responded to the scene to extinguish the blaze and assist with the emergency. The area around the explosion site has been secured, and investigators are working to determine the source of the ignition.
Our thoughts are with the injured workers, and we hope for their swift recovery.
