Tangipahoa Parish, LA (January 27, 2025) – A fatal two-vehicle crash on US Hwy 51 near Anderson Rd claimed the life of 82-year-old Wilbert Banks of Amite and resulted in the arrest of 34-year-old Broderick C. McKnight for vehicular homicide. The incident occurred late Saturday night, at approximately 11:00 p.m.
According to Louisiana State Police Troop L, Banks was driving a 2000 Ford Ranger southbound on US Hwy 51 when a 2001 Nissan Frontier, driven by McKnight, crossed the centerline and struck the Ford head-on. Banks, who was properly restrained, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
McKnight, who was unrestrained at the time of the crash, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Two unrestrained passengers in the Nissan also sustained moderate injuries and were taken to the hospital. Authorities have confirmed that McKnight was impaired at the time of the crash.
