Tama County, IA (January 9, 2025) – A head-on collision on Highway 21 Wednesday evening resulted in one fatality and left two others injured. The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m., according to the Iowa State Patrol.
Jason David Williams, 19, of Dysart, was driving a Volkswagen GTI southbound on Highway 21 when his vehicle collided head-on with a northbound Ford F-150. Tragically, Williams was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and a passenger in the Ford sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Their current conditions have not been disclosed.
This incident marks the second fatal crash in Iowa this year, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation. Over the past five years, an average of 353 fatalities annually have been reported in crashes across the state.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the factors contributing to the collision.
