Tallahassee, FL (February 12, 2025) – A 60-year-old woman was killed, and two men were critically injured following a serious two-vehicle crash in Tallahassee on Tuesday evening. The collision occurred around 5:00 p.m. near the intersection of Capital Circle SW and Frontage Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

Authorities reported that the crash involved a Chevy pickup truck, driven by a 46-year-old man from Tallahassee, and a Nissan Maxima occupied by a 60-year-old driver and passenger from Crawfordville. The incident began when the pickup truck, after stopping at a stop sign on Frontage Road, crossed the southbound lanes of Capital Circle SW directly into the path of the Nissan Maxima, which was traveling southbound in the center lane.

The pickup truck struck the left side of the Nissan, causing severe damage. The Nissan came to rest facing east in the left turn lane, northbound on Capital Circle SW, while the pickup truck also came to a stop facing east in the same lane.

Emergency responders arrived promptly to provide medical assistance. The woman in the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene. Both the driver of the Nissan and the driver of the pickup truck were transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

As of late Tuesday evening, northbound traffic on Capital Circle SW was being diverted onto Orange Avenue, while the southbound lanes were reopened following the crash investigation.

The Florida Highway Patrol is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of the woman who lost her life in this tragic accident. We also extend our thoughts and wishes for a full recovery to the injured men.

Intersection Accidents in Florida

Intersections are among the most dangerous places on Florida’s roadways, with crashes at these locations frequently resulting in serious injuries or fatalities. Accidents at intersections like Capital Circle SW and Frontage Road in Tallahassee often involve drivers failing to yield the right of way, misjudging traffic speeds, or attempting unsafe maneuvers.

In this tragic case, the driver of the pickup truck reportedly entered the path of the Nissan after stopping at a stop sign, leading to a devastating side-impact collision. T-bone crashes, like the one described, are particularly dangerous as the sides of vehicles provide less protection compared to the front and rear. Such impacts often result in severe injuries or fatalities, particularly for those seated on the side of the vehicle that is struck.

Common factors contributing to intersection accidents include distracted driving, failure to adhere to traffic signals, impaired driving, and poor visibility. In Florida, where roads like Capital Circle SW carry heavy commuter traffic, even a brief lapse in judgment can have catastrophic consequences.

For victims and their families, the aftermath of a serious accident can be overwhelming, both emotionally and financially. Medical expenses, lost wages, funeral costs, and emotional trauma can place a heavy burden on those affected. Legal guidance is often essential to help navigate the complexities of insurance claims and pursue compensation for damages.
