Tacoma, WA (December 19, 2024) – A 12-year-old child was hospitalized Wednesday evening after being struck by a vehicle during an altercation between two adults in Tacoma. The incident occurred around 8:50 p.m. in the 6800 block of South K Street, according to the Tacoma Police Department.
Authorities reported that the situation began as a dispute between two adult males. One of the adults had the 12-year-old child with them during the altercation. During the conflict, one of the men entered a vehicle and fled the scene, hitting the child in the process.
Tacoma police quickly responded to the hit-and-run call. Officers located the fleeing vehicle in the 600 block of South Wright Street, nearly three miles from the original incident location. The suspect was apprehended and is now facing charges of vehicular assault and robbery.
The child was reportedly conscious and alert at the scene and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The extent of the child’s injuries has not been disclosed. Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this disturbing event.
