Surfside Beach, SC (February 13, 2025) – A crash near Surfside Beach resulted in the death of one individual several days after the incident. The collision occurred along S.C. 707 near Brighton Avenue at approximately 10:30 a.m., according to Lance Cpl. Lena Butler with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Authorities reported that a Hyundai Tucson was traveling south on S.C. 707 when it moved into the center lane and struck a Ford Fusion that was stopped facing north. The driver and sole occupant of the Hyundai succumbed to their injuries on February 12. The driver and passenger in the Ford were not injured in the crash.
The Horry County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the name of the deceased. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
