Summit County, CO (March 6, 2025) – Several people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 91 near milepost 15, south of Copper Mountain, on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP).
Authorities were dispatched to the northbound lanes at approximately 3:07 p.m. after reports of a crash blocking traffic. Early reports indicated that as many as seven vehicles may have been involved in the collision.
Emergency responders transported multiple individuals for medical treatment. However, CSP reported that as of 4:23 p.m., the extent of their injuries remained unclear.
The crash prompted a temporary shutdown of Highway 91 in both directions while tow crews worked to clear the scene. The highway has since reopened.
According to CSP, severe weather conditions, including whiteouts and icy roads, played a role in the crash. The Colorado Department of Transportation was deployed to improve road conditions in the area.
CSP is currently investigating the crash, and further details have not yet been released.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims, and we hope for their full recovery.
Winter Weather and Road Safety in Colorado
Colorado’s mountainous highways are particularly hazardous during the winter months, with sudden weather changes leading to icy roads and reduced visibility. Whiteout conditions can make it difficult for drivers to react in time, increasing the risk of multi-vehicle collisions.
According to state traffic reports, winter weather contributes to a significant number of accidents each year in Colorado. Authorities recommend that drivers exercise caution by reducing speed, maintaining a safe following distance, and using winter tires when traveling in snowy or icy conditions.
For those involved in an accident, seeking immediate medical care and understanding their rights is essential. Consulting with a professional can help accident victims navigate the recovery process and explore options for support.
