Sullivan County, IN (November 12, 2024) – A tragic two-vehicle collision occurred Sunday morning at approximately 9:30 AM at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Section Street. The crash resulted in the death of one driver and injuries to another.
Indiana State Police report that Nancy Bright, 71, of Sullivan, was traveling south on U.S. 41 before attempting to turn east onto Section Street. While crossing U.S. 41, Bright’s vehicle was struck by another car driven by Michael Thomas, 56, of Farmersburg. Thomas reportedly attempted to stop but was unable to avoid the collision.
Bright was pronounced dead at the scene, while Thomas was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities have confirmed that drugs or alcohol were not contributing factors in the crash.
