Suffolk, VA (November 9, 2024) – Emergency crews responded to a boat crash early Saturday morning in the area of 100 Riverside Drive. Officials report that three individuals were aboard a 19-foot Carolina Skiff center console when it struck an object in the water, causing significant damage and loss of power.
During the crash, one occupant was ejected from the vessel but was safely assisted back onboard by the other two occupants. Suffolk Fire and Rescue’s FireBoat 1 arrived at the scene at approximately 1:40 a.m. and treated the injured individual on Bennett’s Creek. The vessel was subsequently towed to Decoys Seafood Marina.
One person was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The remaining two boaters were assessed at the scene but declined further medical care. Officials are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash.
