Stone County, MO (March 10, 2025) – A rear-end collision on Missouri Highway 86 left two people injured Sunday afternoon. The crash occurred around 4:45 p.m., approximately three miles northeast of Blue Eye.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2016 Toyota Tacoma, driven by a 28-year-old man from Van Buren, AR, was traveling eastbound when it struck the rear of a 2023 Audi Q3. The impact caused moderate damage to the Tacoma, which had to be towed from the scene by Chris’s Towing. The Audi sustained minor damage and was able to be driven away.

Emergency responders arrived quickly to assist those injured in the crash. The driver of the Tacoma and a 30-year-old female passenger from Omaha, AR, both sustained injuries. Mercy Ambulance transported them to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for further evaluation and treatment. The driver of the Audi, a 30-year-old man from Bartlett, TN, was not reported injured.

Officials continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

We hope for a quick recovery for those injured and remind all drivers to remain alert and maintain safe following distances.

Rear-End Collisions in Missouri

Rear-end collisions are among the most common types of crashes on Missouri roadways. They often result from tailgating, distracted driving, or sudden braking. While some rear-end crashes cause only minor vehicle damage, others can lead to serious injuries, especially when the impact occurs at higher speeds.

Missouri law requires drivers to maintain a safe following distance to prevent rear-end accidents. Drivers who fail to do so may be held responsible for damages, including medical expenses, vehicle repairs, and other losses suffered by the injured parties. In many cases, distracted driving—such as texting, adjusting in-car controls, or failing to notice slowing traffic—plays a role in these types of collisions.

Victims of rear-end crashes may face unexpected medical costs and recovery challenges. Seeking legal guidance can help injured individuals understand their options and pursue fair compensation.

As authorities investigate this crash, drivers are encouraged to stay focused on the road, avoid distractions, and allow sufficient space between vehicles to reduce the risk of collisions.
