Hit-and-Run Accidents in California
Hit-and-run crashes remain a significant concern across California, particularly on major highways such as Interstate 5. These incidents often leave victims with serious injuries, while the responsible driver flees the scene to avoid accountability.
Many hit-and-run accidents involve reckless driving, high speeds, or impaired motorists. In some cases, drivers panic after causing a crash and fail to render aid as required by law. Under California Vehicle Code 20001, leaving the scene of an accident that results in injury or death is a criminal offense that carries severe penalties, including fines and possible imprisonment.
Victims of hit-and-run accidents may still have options for seeking compensation, even if the at-fault driver is not immediately located. Uninsured motorist coverage or legal claims against liable parties can help injured individuals recover damages for medical expenses, lost income, and pain and suffering.
If you or someone you love has been injured in a hit-and-run crash, seeking medical care and consulting with legal professionals can be crucial steps toward securing justice and financial recovery.
