Stewartstown, NH (February 10, 2025) – A 62-year-old man from Windham, NH, was injured in a snowmobile crash near Diamond Pond Road in Stewartstown on Saturday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 10:00 AM, prompting an emergency response from the Colebrook Fire Department and 45th Parallel EMS.

The injured individual, identified as David Foggo, was operating a snowmobile on a trail connector when he failed to stop at an intersection. This caused him to collide with a group of trees. Foggo’s riding companion quickly rushed to his aid while a passerby called 911 to request emergency assistance.

Fortunately, Foggo’s location adjacent to Diamond Pond Road allowed first responders to reach the scene quickly. Colebrook Fire Department personnel provided initial assistance, and Foggo was transported by 45th Parallel Ambulance to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital (UCVH) in Colebrook for further evaluation of his injuries. The extent of his injuries has not yet been disclosed.

Our thoughts are with David Foggo, and we wish him a full and speedy recovery.

Snowmobile Accidents in New Hampshire

New Hampshire’s scenic trails attract many snowmobile enthusiasts each winter, but accidents like the one near Diamond Pond Road in Stewartstown highlight the risks associated with the sport. Snowmobile crashes are often caused by factors such as excessive speed, challenging trail conditions, mechanical failures, and failure to navigate intersections or obstacles safely. In some cases, unfamiliar terrain or reduced visibility can also contribute to accidents.

Injuries from snowmobile crashes can range from minor cuts and bruises to more serious conditions like fractures, head injuries, and internal trauma. Given the remote nature of many snowmobile trails, quick access to emergency services is not always possible, making it critical for riders to carry communication devices and travel with companions.

New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officers, along with local emergency responders like the Colebrook Fire Department and 45th Parallel EMS, play a vital role in ensuring timely rescues in these situations. Snowmobilers are encouraged to stay aware of trail conditions, ride within their limits, and prioritize safety gear, such as helmets and protective clothing, to reduce the risk of injury.

If you or someone you love has been injured in a snowmobile accident, it’s important to seek medical attention promptly, even if injuries appear minor. Additionally, understanding your legal rights and options for compensation can help alleviate some of the financial burdens associated with medical expenses and recovery. Legal professionals can assist in navigating insurance claims and securing compensation for injuries and other damages.
