Staten Island, NY (January 14, 2025) – A two-alarm house fire on Targee Street in the Stapleton neighborhood of Staten Island resulted in four injuries, including two firefighters, according to local emergency officials.
The fire was first reported at 7:36 a.m. when a 911 caller alerted authorities to an incident at 203 Targee St. Firefighters quickly arrived on the scene and upgraded the response to a two-alarm fire due to the severity of the blaze. Crews battled the flames and managed to knock down the main body of the fire by 7:52 a.m., with primary searches ongoing to ensure the safety of occupants.
Two civilians and two firefighters sustained injuries during the incident. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) confirmed that one civilian suffered serious injuries while the other sustained minor injuries. Both firefighters were also injured but transported to nearby hospitals for treatment, with none of the injuries considered life-threatening.
The fire was declared under control at 9:04 a.m., but crews remained on-site to assess structural concerns and assist displaced occupants in coordination with the Red Cross.
