Starke, FL (January 10, 2025) – A tragic incident early Friday morning claimed the life of a Florida National Guard service member at Camp Blanding Joint Military Training Center. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the 38-year-old man was struck by a vehicle while walking on base.
The crash occurred around 7:00 a.m. on Avenue B. FHP investigators report that the man was walking eastbound when he was hit by a Jeep traveling in the same direction. The impact caused the man to come to rest on the right shoulder of the roadway, where he was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Jeep was uninjured.
