Stafford, CT (January 23, 2025) – A tragic snowmobile crash at Sun Valley Resort on Wednesday afternoon claimed the life of a 48-year-old Ellington woman. The Connecticut State Police reported that the crash occurred around 3:23 PM, leaving Jamie Gallicchio with critical injuries.
Authorities said Gallicchio was thrown from the snowmobile and was badly injured. She was transported by ambulance to Johnson Memorial Hospital and later airlifted by LifeStar to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, where she was pronounced dead shortly before 7:00 PM.
Her passenger, a 45-year-old man from West Springfield, Massachusetts, sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment at the scene, according to state police. Officials stated there were no known witnesses to the crash and are asking anyone who may have seen the incident to contact Trooper Nicholas Miranda at Troop C.
