St. Martinville, LA (February 11, 2025) – A child was seriously injured on Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle near a school bus stop in St. Martinville. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene but was later arrested by authorities.
According to the St. Martinville Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 6:26 a.m. in the area of Main St and Mimosa Ln, near a designated school bus stop. 64-year-old Donna Bourque, a resident of St. Martinville, reportedly ran through the flashing signs of a school bus and struck the child. Following the collision, Bourque fled the scene.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and provided immediate medical care to the injured child, who sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby medical facility for further treatment. The current condition of the child has not been disclosed.
Authorities later located and arrested Donna Bourque in connection with the hit-and-run. She is expected to face multiple charges related to the incident, including fleeing the scene of an accident and violating school bus traffic laws.
