St. Louis, MO (October 18, 2024) – A serious traffic accident occurred on the morning of October 17, 2024, at approximately 9:15 AM on the Jefferson Barracks Bridge, located on westbound I-255. The incident prompted immediate response from emergency services, including police and fire departments.
Preliminary reports indicate that the collision involved two vehicles: a 2018 Mazda CX9 and a 2020 Volvo VNL. The Mazda, driven by 32-year-old Enis Mehmedovic from Saint Louis, MO, experienced a mechanical failure, causing it to slow down unexpectedly. The Volvo, driven by 70-year-old Robert A. Barnick from Teutopolis, IL, was unable to stop in time and struck the rear of the Mazda. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene by Miner’s Towing.
Emergency responders from Mehlville Fire EMS arrived promptly and transported both Enis Mehmedovic and a passenger, 32-year-old Zerina Mehmedovic, to Mercy Hospital – South for medical evaluation and treatment. Both individuals sustained moderate injuries; however, it is reported that Enis was not wearing a safety device at the time of the accident, while Zerina was.
