St. Louis, MO (December 12, 2024) – A serious vehicle accident with multiple injuries occurred this morning at Route U and Interstate 70 in St. Louis. The incident was reported at 8:39 a.m. and involved two vehicles, both traveling in opposite directions.
According to the investigation by Trooper E. R. Sikes, the crash occurred when the driver of a 2000 Toyota Camry (Vehicle #2), a 32-year-old female from St. Louis, MO, pulled into the path of a 2014 Toyota Camry (Vehicle #1), driven by a 32-year-old female from St. Louis, MO. This caused Vehicle #1 to strike the side of Vehicle #2. Following the impact, Vehicle #2 struck a traffic barrier and a crosswalk sign before overturning. Vehicle #1 traveled off the east side of the roadway and hit a concrete barrier.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene. Four individuals were involved in the crash, including two drivers and two passengers. A juvenile female, aged 7, who was an occupant in Vehicle #2, sustained injuries and was transported by Northeast Fire Protection District to St. Louis Children’s Hospital. The 26-year-old male passenger from Vehicle #1 and the 32-year-old female driver of Vehicle #1 both sustained injuries and were transported by Medic One Ambulance to Barnes-Jewish Hospital. The driver of Vehicle #2, a 32-year-old female, also sustained injuries and was transported to Barnes-Jewish Hospital via St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
The investigation is ongoing, but initial findings suggest that the crash was caused when the second vehicle entered the path of the first, leading to a significant impact and subsequent damage to both vehicles and nearby infrastructure.
