St. Louis, MO (November 9, 2024) – Emergency crews rushed to the scene of a two-vehicle crash that resulted in moderate injuries late Friday night. The collision occurred at the intersection of westbound MO-94 and Route H around 11:10 PM.
According to reports, a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado crossed the center line into the path of a southbound 2020 Chevrolet Trax. Both drivers attempted evasive maneuvers; however, their vehicles collided head-on after traveling off the roadway. Responders, including the St. Charles County Ambulance District, provided care at the scene and transported two individuals to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis for treatment of moderate injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet Trax, an 18-year-old male from St. Charles, MO, and a 21-year-old female occupant of the Silverado from Florissant, MO, were both wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Both vehicles sustained total damage and were towed from the scene by Superior Towing. Officers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted in the investigation, which is ongoing.
We extend our thoughts to the injured individuals and wish them a swift and complete recovery.
Head-On Collisions in Missouri
Head-on collisions are among the most dangerous types of accidents, often resulting in severe injuries or fatalities. In Missouri, such incidents are frequently caused by driver error, including distracted driving, impaired judgment, or failure to maintain lane control.
State statistics show that intersections, such as the one at MO-94 and Route H, are high-risk areas for traffic collisions. Roadway design, visibility challenges, and the volume of traffic contribute to these risks. Public safety officials encourage drivers to remain vigilant and adhere to speed limits, especially on state highways where mixed traffic conditions prevail.
In this particular case, both vehicles traveled off the roadway, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of crashes and the importance of defensive driving. Wearing seat belts and observing caution in high-traffic zones significantly reduce injury severity.
