St. Louis, MO (October 20, 2024) – A serious traffic accident occurred in the early hours of October 19, 2024, at approximately 12:55 AM on Interstate 55, just north of Butler Hill Road. The incident involved two vehicles and prompted a response from local emergency services.
Preliminary reports indicate that a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado was abandoned in the lanes of southbound Interstate 55 when it was struck by a 2022 Ford EcoSport, driven by 47-year-old Robert A. Sell from Ste. Genevieve, MO. The Ford EcoSport collided with the right side of the abandoned Silverado, causing significant damage. Following the initial impact, the EcoSport then struck the concrete barriers on both sides of the roadway.
Emergency responders from Mehlville Fire Protection arrived at the scene to provide assistance. Sell sustained serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital South for medical care. Additionally, 44-year-old Heather M. Jackson, an occupant in the EcoSport, was reported to have sustained moderate injuries and was also taken to Mercy Hospital South.
