Hit-and-Run Accidents in Missouri
Hit-and-run accidents are an alarming issue across Missouri, particularly in metropolitan areas like St. Louis. These incidents often leave victims facing severe injuries and financial burdens without the immediate ability to hold the responsible party accountable.
Missouri law requires drivers involved in accidents to remain at the scene to provide aid and information. When a driver flees the scene, it complicates both the investigation and the victim’s ability to recover damages. However, victims may still pursue compensation through uninsured motorist coverage or by working with law enforcement to identify the at-fault driver.
To reduce the risk of accidents, drivers are urged to remain vigilant, follow traffic laws, and avoid distractions. In the event of a collision, staying at the scene and cooperating with authorities is not only required by law but also essential for ensuring everyone’s safety.
