St. Louis, MO (February 26, 2025) – A three-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 resulted in injuries to one person Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 3:45 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-70 at Jennings Station Road. Reports indicate that a 2020 Ford Fusion, driven by a 26-year-old woman from St. Louis, failed to stop for traffic congestion and rear-ended a 2015 Toyota Highlander. The impact pushed the Highlander into a 2019 Dodge Durango ahead of it.
Emergency responders from the Northeast Fire Protection District arrived at the scene and transported the Ford Fusion’s driver to Barnes Jewish Hospital for treatment of injuries. The drivers of the Highlander and the Durango were uninjured and able to drive their vehicles away. However, the Fusion sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene by A2B Towing.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash. Our thoughts are with the injured driver, and we wish her a speedy recovery.
Rear-End Collisions in Missouri
Rear-end crashes are one of the most common types of accidents on Missouri highways, particularly in high-traffic areas like I-70. These incidents often occur when drivers fail to recognize slowed or stopped traffic in time, leading to chain-reaction collisions. Even at moderate speeds, rear-end crashes can result in significant injuries, including whiplash, back pain, and head trauma.
Missouri law requires all drivers to maintain a safe following distance and remain alert to changing road conditions. Failing to do so can lead to serious accidents, vehicle damage, and personal injuries. Defensive driving strategies—such as avoiding distractions, keeping a proper distance from other vehicles, and anticipating traffic patterns—are key to reducing the risk of these types of collisions.
