St. Louis, MO (January 17, 2025) – A serious multi-vehicle collision occurred late Wednesday morning at the intersection of Highway 67 and Missouri Bottom Rd, leaving two individuals injured, one seriously.

The crash was reported at approximately 10:20 AM. According to reports, a 2011 Audi R4 traveling northbound failed to stop at a steady red traffic signal and struck the driver’s side of a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt, which was traveling westbound. The impact caused the Chevrolet Cobalt to slide into a 2017 Kia Soul, traveling southbound.

Emergency responders from the Community Fire Protection District and Hazelwood Fire Protection District arrived on the scene to provide aid. The 22-year-old male driver of the Audi R4, a resident of Florissant, MO, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to SSM Health DePaul Hospital. The 43-year-old male driver of the Chevrolet Cobalt from Foristell, MO, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital St. Louis for treatment. Both drivers of the impacted vehicles were wearing safety devices, except for the driver of the Audi R4.

All three vehicles sustained significant damage and were towed from the scene by A2B Towing. The incident remains under investigation by authorities, including Trooper D.J. Bittick and Field Training Officer Corporal J.E. Lacy. Our thoughts are with those injured in this accident, and we wish them a speedy recovery.

Car Accidents in Missouri

Intersections and traffic signals are frequent sites of vehicle collisions in Missouri. Disregarding traffic signals remains a significant cause of accidents and is particularly dangerous at high-traffic intersections like Highway 67 and Missouri Bottom Rd.

According to Missouri Department of Transportation statistics, failure to obey traffic signals contributes to thousands of accidents annually across the state. These crashes often result in severe injuries or fatalities, with intersections being among the most hazardous locations for motorists.

Drivers are urged to adhere strictly to traffic laws and remain vigilant when approaching intersections. Ensuring safe practices such as stopping completely at red lights and yielding the right of way can significantly reduce the likelihood of accidents.
