St. Louis, MO (January 30, 2025) – A three-vehicle collision occurred Wednesday evening on southbound New Halls Ferry Road at Pershall, leaving a young child injured and causing significant vehicle damage.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at approximately 6:25 p.m. when a 35-year-old woman from St. Louis, driving a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu southbound, crossed the centerline. The Malibu’s left front and rear tires moved into the northbound lanes, where it struck the left side of a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado that was stopped at a traffic light. The Malibu continued forward and collided with a 2024 Dodge Journey, which had also been stopped at the light behind the Silverado.
Emergency responders from Christian EMS arrived on the scene and transported a 5-year-old female passenger from the Malibu to Christian Northeast Hospital with moderate injuries. No other injuries were reported.
The Malibu sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene by A2B Towing. The Silverado and Dodge Journey had moderate damage but were able to be driven away. Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the cause of the Malibu crossing into oncoming lanes.
We hope for the young child’s full and speedy recovery.
Lane Violations and Head-On Crash Risks in Missouri
Crossing the center line is one of the most dangerous driving errors, often leading to head-on or side-impact collisions. Whether due to distraction, fatigue, or other factors, failure to stay in the correct lane can result in serious injuries, especially in areas with high traffic volume like New Halls Ferry Road.
Missouri law requires drivers to remain in their designated lanes and only cross when it is safe to do so. In crashes like this, defensive driving, reduced speed in high-traffic zones, and driver attentiveness are crucial to preventing dangerous lane departures.
For those injured in collisions caused by lane violations, navigating medical treatment, insurance claims, and legal concerns can be overwhelming. Seeking guidance on available recovery options can help alleviate some of the stress associated with post-accident challenges.
If you or a loved one has been affected by a motor vehicle accident, speaking with a professional can provide clarity on the next steps toward recovery and legal options.
