St. Louis, MO (December 27, 2024) – A two-vehicle crash on Interstate 70, west of Earth City Expressway, resulted in multiple injuries early Friday morning. The collision occurred around 12:08 AM and was handled by Troopers, including TPR T.O. Murphy (714) and Trooper M.S. Ogborn (461), with assistance from local fire protection districts.

The crash involved a 2017 Ford Fusion, driven by a 27-year-old woman from St. Charles, MO, and a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, operated by a 32-year-old man from Manchester, MO. Both vehicles sustained total damage and were removed from the scene by A2B Towing.

Reports indicate that the Hyundai Elantra was blocking a traffic lane due to a prior crash when it was struck from behind by the Ford Fusion. The impact resulted in injuries to multiple individuals. The Ford driver sustained injuries and was transported to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital St. Charles by Maryland Heights Fire Protection District. A 53-year-old male passenger in the Ford also suffered injuries and was taken to the same hospital.

The Hyundai driver and a 39-year-old female passenger were also injured. The driver suffered minor injuries, while the passenger sustained moderate injuries. Both were transported to Mercy Hospital St. Louis by Pattonville Fire Protection District.

The incident disrupted traffic along I-70 as authorities worked to clear the scene and initiate an investigation into the circumstances of the crash. Our thoughts are with those injured in this collision.

Multi-Vehicle Accidents in Missouri

Missouri highways, particularly in urban areas like St. Louis, are frequently the site of multi-vehicle crashes. Contributing factors often include high traffic volumes, poor visibility, and vehicles blocking lanes due to prior incidents, as seen in this case.

Drivers involved in such crashes are urged to prioritize safety by remaining inside their vehicles with seat belts fastened, activating hazard lights, and calling emergency services immediately. Properly documenting the incident and seeking medical care, even for minor injuries, is crucial for recovery and potential claims.

Missouri law allows victims to pursue compensation for damages caused by negligence. This includes coverage for medical expenses, lost income, and other losses stemming from the accident.
