St. Louis, MO (January 30, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash late Wednesday night on Interstate 70 near Jennings Station Road resulted in injuries and significant vehicle damage.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-70. Reports indicate that a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by a 31-year-old woman from Ferguson, was traveling eastbound when it struck the right side of a 2006 Pontiac G6, which had been involved in a prior collision.
Emergency responders from the Northeast Fire Protection District arrived at the scene and transported the Equinox driver to Barnes-Jewish Hospital for treatment of injuries. The condition of any occupants in the Pontiac G6 remains unclear, as information on the driver and passengers was not available at the time of reporting.
Both vehicles sustained total damage and were removed from the scene by McNamara Towing. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash and the initial incident involving the Pontiac G6.
We hope for the full recovery of those involved.
Secondary Accidents on Missouri Highways
Crashes involving disabled or previously wrecked vehicles pose a significant risk to drivers, particularly on high-speed roadways such as Interstate 70. Secondary accidents, like the one in this case, occur when drivers fail to notice or react in time to stopped or slow-moving vehicles.
Highways, especially in urban areas like St. Louis, see frequent congestion and sudden traffic changes, increasing the likelihood of chain-reaction crashes. Drivers should remain alert, reduce speed in accident-prone areas, and watch for hazard lights or debris indicating a previous crash.
Missouri law requires drivers to move over or slow down when approaching accident scenes to prevent additional collisions. The risk of secondary crashes can be mitigated by emergency responders promptly securing crash sites and by drivers maintaining a heightened level of caution when approaching stalled or disabled vehicles.
If you or someone you know has been injured in a highway accident, it is important to seek support and understand your rights. Recovery after an accident can be complicated, especially when dealing with medical expenses and insurance claims.
If you have been involved in a serious crash, speaking with a professional can help you navigate your next steps toward recovery and legal options.
