St. Louis, MO (December 27, 2024) – A tragic accident on westbound I-70, west of Earth City Expressway, resulted in a fatality early Friday morning. The incident, reported at approximately 12:08 AM, involved a pedestrian and was investigated by Trooper T.O. Murphy (714), Master Sgt. J.D. Cox, and members of the Major Crash Investigation Unit.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan was traveling in lane 3 of westbound I-70 when the driver swerved to avoid vehicles in the roadway from prior crashes. Despite the effort to avoid a collision, the vehicle struck a 32-year-old male pedestrian from Manchester, MO. The pedestrian was transported by Pattonville Fire Protection District to Mercy Hospital St. Louis, where he was pronounced deceased at 12:42 AM by Dr. Eddie Blay.
The driver of the Volkswagen, a 63-year-old man from O’Fallon, MO, was not reported to have sustained injuries. The vehicle sustained total damage and was removed from the scene by A2B Towing.
