St. Louis, MO (November 27, 2024) – A multi-vehicle collision on eastbound Interstate 70 near the Blanchette Bridge in St. Louis left at least one person injured on Tuesday evening. The crash occurred around 5:40 PM, prompting emergency responders from St. Louis County and surrounding agencies to the scene.
According to reports from the St. Louis County Police, traffic on I-70 was slowing due to congestion ahead when the chain-reaction crash occurred. A 74-year-old female driver of a 2018 Volkswagen Beetle failed to slow in time, striking the rear of a 2020 Chevrolet Trax. This impact caused the Chevrolet Trax to rear-end a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado, which in turn collided with a 2022 Freightliner Cascadia.
The 59-year-old female driver of the Chevrolet Trax sustained moderate injuries and was transported to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital St. Charles by Pattonville Ambulance. Fortunately, other drivers involved in the incident did not report injuries. All vehicles were traveling eastbound on I-70 at the time of the crash.
The incident caused significant delays on the highway, with two of the vehicles requiring towing. Emergency crews worked quickly to clear the wreckage, and traffic resumed by late evening.
Our thoughts are with the injured driver, and we hope for a swift recovery.
