St. Joseph, MO (January 3, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of 9th St and Powell St on Thursday afternoon left two individuals injured. The incident occurred around 3:40 p.m. and involved a 2007 Saturn Ion and a 2018 Nissan Sentra.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, Vehicle 1 (a Nissan Sentra) was traveling eastbound on Powell St and failed to stop at a stop sign, entering the path of Vehicle 2 (a Saturn Ion), which was traveling southbound on 9th St. The Saturn collided with the driver’s side of the Nissan, causing the Saturn to come to rest in the intersection, while the Nissan rotated and struck a sign after leaving the roadway.

Lastly, a 66-year-old male passenger in the Saturn also suffered injuries and was taken to the same hospital by a private vehicle.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident. Additional support at the scene was provided by Captain S.P. Skoglund, Lt. T.L. Williams, Lt. J.M. Cross, and the St. Joseph Police Department.

We wish those hurt a swift recovery.
