St. Johns County, FL (February 26, 2025) – A crash involving two semi-trucks shut down all northbound lanes of Interstate 95 near County Road 210 on Tuesday evening, causing significant traffic congestion in the area.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash occurred when a white semi-truck, driven by a 34-year-old Jacksonville man, was traveling north in the middle lane. The driver swerved onto the right shoulder to avoid colliding with another vehicle but then overcorrected, causing the truck to overturn into the right northbound lane.
A second semi-truck, a blue semi traveling in the middle lane behind the first, was unable to stop in time. The front right fender of the blue truck struck the rear of the overturned white semi-truck.
Authorities reported that the overturned truck began leaking CO2, but emergency crews were able to contain the spill before it posed any further risks. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the crash.
Traffic on I-95 North was heavily impacted as crews worked to clear the scene and manage the hazardous material leak. The incident remains under investigation.
Truck Accidents in Florida
Florida’s highways, particularly I-95, see frequent semi-truck crashes due to high traffic volume, sudden lane changes, and long-haul driver fatigue. Incidents like this, where a driver swerves and overcorrects, can quickly lead to major collisions and hazardous conditions for other motorists.
Though no injuries were reported in this crash, semi-truck accidents often result in serious or fatal injuries due to their sheer size and weight. Jackknife accidents, rollovers, and cargo spills can create additional dangers for surrounding drivers.
Victims of truck accidents may face significant medical expenses, vehicle damage, and lengthy recovery times. Seeking legal guidance and understanding available resources can be crucial after an accident.
