St. Johns County, FL (January 10, 2025) – A teenage boy sustained critical injuries in a hit-and-run crash early Friday morning in the Flagler Estates community of southern St. Johns County. The crash occurred at the intersection of Palatka Blvd and Carpenter Ave as the boy was on his way to a bus stop.
According to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office (SJSO), the incident was discovered at approximately 6:45 a.m. when a citizen found the boy lying injured near the intersection. Life-saving measures were immediately performed, and the victim was transported to a trauma center via air ambulance.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the boy, a student at Gamble Rodgers Middle School, was walking to his bus stop but never arrived. Evidence at the scene suggests the suspect vehicle has front-end damage, including a possible broken lens. Authorities are actively searching for the vehicle and driver involved.
The roadway between Delgado Ave and Carpenter Ave was closed for several hours as deputies conducted their investigation. The SJSO is urging anyone with information regarding the crash to come forward.
