St. Francois, MO (December 19, 2024) – Emergency responders were quick to the scene of a significant collision on Missouri 8 at Huntsford Rd on Wednesday evening. The crash, reported at approximately 4:15 PM, involved a 2011 Ford F350 and a 1995 Mazda Protege.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed that the accident resulted in serious injuries. Both vehicles were traveling westbound when the driver of the Ford F350, a 40-year-old male from Irondale, MO, failed to notice the slowing Mazda Protege ahead, leading to a rear-end collision. The Ford sustained moderate damage, while the Mazda was totaled. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Buckley’s Towing.

Emergency responders treated multiple individuals for injuries. Two juveniles in the Ford, aged 9 and 12, suffered minor injuries and were transported to Parkland Hospital in Farmington, MO, by St. Francois County Ambulance District. In the Mazda, the 66-year-old male driver and his 67-year-old female passenger from Leadwood, MO, sustained serious injuries. They were airlifted to Mercy Hospital St. Louis for advanced medical care.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, with assistance from Corporal A. J. Shibley. Our thoughts are with those affected by this accident as they recover.

Car Accidents in Missouri

Car accidents are an unfortunate reality on Missouri roads, with incidents involving inattentive driving being a significant concern. In cases like this one, where a rear-end collision occurs, driver inattention often plays a crucial role. According to state statistics, inattentive driving is among the leading causes of accidents, accounting for thousands of crashes annually.

Missouri residents can take several precautions to reduce the risk of accidents. These include maintaining a safe following distance, being alert to the flow of traffic, and adhering to speed limits. Inattentiveness, even for a moment, can lead to devastating consequences, as seen in this recent crash in St. Francois County.

Serious collisions can leave victims with long-term physical and emotional impacts. Beyond immediate medical concerns, injured parties often face challenges with insurance claims, lost wages, and rehabilitation expenses. Consulting with a legal professional may help those affected understand their rights and options for seeking compensation.

If you or someone you know has been involved in an accident, prioritize safety and seek medical attention immediately. Documenting the scene and gathering witness accounts can also be beneficial when filing a claim.
