St. Charles, MO (December 12, 2024) – A multi-vehicle accident with injuries occurred early Thursday morning on Eastbound Interstate 70, just east of Zumbehl Road in St. Charles. The crash was reported at 6:31 a.m., involving four vehicles and leading to significant damage and one reported injury.
According to the investigation by Trooper B.W. Katzing, the crash began when the front right of a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox (Vehicle #4), driven by a 32-year-old male from Old Monroe, MO, struck the rear left of a 2024 Genesis GV70 (Vehicle #3), driven by a 54-year-old male from O’Fallon, MO. The collision caused Vehicle #3 to begin rotating, and the front right of Vehicle #3 struck the left side of a 2020 GMC Terrain (Vehicle #2), driven by a 59-year-old female from O’Fallon, MO. Vehicle #3 continued to rotate, and the rear right of Vehicle #3 struck the rear of a 2020 Ford Edge (Vehicle #1), driven by a 41-year-old male from St. Peters, MO.
The impact of the crash caused significant damage to several of the vehicles involved. The Chevrolet Equinox, Genesis GV70, and GMC Terrain were all towed from the scene, while the Ford Edge was able to be driven from the location with only minor damage. A 22-year-old female occupant of the Genesis GV70 sustained moderate injuries and was transported by St. Charles County Ambulance District to Mercy Hospital – Saint Louis for treatment.
The St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department, assisted by Troopers M.S. Ogborn and D.R. McKenzie, worked to clear the scene and investigate the cause of the crash. Authorities are continuing to assess the details and will provide further updates as needed.
