Left-Turn Collisions and Traffic Safety in Missouri
Left-turn crashes at busy intersections are a leading cause of serious accidents in Missouri. These collisions often occur when drivers misjudge oncoming traffic, fail to yield, or proceed against a traffic signal.
State traffic reports indicate that failure to yield is one of the most common factors in intersection-related crashes, particularly at high-speed roadways where drivers attempt to make left turns. The force of impact in these collisions can be significant, often leading to serious injuries or fatalities.
To improve road safety, motorists should always ensure they have a clear path before making a left turn, obey all traffic signals, and remain alert for approaching vehicles. Defensive driving techniques, such as waiting for a full clearance before proceeding, can significantly reduce the risk of left-turn collisions.
If you or a loved one has been injured in an intersection accident, seeking medical attention and understanding legal rights are crucial steps toward recovery.
