Pedestrian Safety Concerns on Texas Highways
Pedestrian-related crashes on highways like U.S. Highway 199 highlight the dangers of walking near high-speed traffic areas. Unlike urban roads with crosswalks and designated pedestrian zones, highways pose significant risks due to fast-moving vehicles, low visibility at night, and the lack of pedestrian infrastructure.
According to state safety officials, drivers are urged to remain vigilant, especially in poorly lit areas where pedestrians may be present. Pedestrians, in turn, should take precautions such as wearing reflective clothing and using designated crossing areas when available.
Losing a loved one in a pedestrian accident is devastating for families, both emotionally and financially. In such cases, seeking legal guidance may help families understand their rights and options, especially if negligence or hazardous roadway conditions played a role in the incident.
