Springfield, OR (September 20, 2024) – A serious accident occurred on the evening of September 18, 2024, involving a pedestrian and a vehicle. At approximately 9:36 p.m., the Springfield Police Department responded to reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on 19th Street, just north of Marcola Road.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver of a 2016 Subaru Forester was traveling northbound on 19th Street when an adult male on an electric scooter exited the Albertson’s parking lot and entered the path of the oncoming vehicle. Unfortunately, the driver of the Subaru was unable to stop in time, resulting in a collision with the man on the scooter.
Emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene, and the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Subaru remained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
