Spartanburg County, SC (February 11, 2025) – Emergency responders were quick to the scene following a deadly three-vehicle crash that occurred Monday morning in Spartanburg County. The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office are actively investigating the incident, which took place around 8:14 AM on South Church St near Becknell Dr.
According to investigators, a car and a pickup truck traveling in the northbound lanes of South Church St made contact. This initial collision caused the pickup truck to cross the center median and enter the southbound lanes, where it struck a third car head-on.
The driver of the pickup truck, identified by the coroner as 77-year-old Johnny Huckabee of Roebuck, SC, died at the scene. Two individuals in the car that was hit head-on sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine contributing factors. Traffic in the area was significantly delayed as crews worked to clear the scene and ensure the safety of all involved.
