The Dangers of Motorcycle Accidents in South Carolina
Motorcyclists are at a significantly higher risk of severe or fatal injuries in crashes involving larger vehicles. Intersections like U.S. Highway 101 and Reidville Road often pose dangers due to merging traffic, sudden stops, and blind spots that can make it difficult for drivers to see approaching motorcycles.
Common causes of motorcycle accidents include left-turn collisions, distracted driving, and failure to yield. Without the protection of an enclosed vehicle, riders are more vulnerable to impact forces that can lead to life-threatening injuries.
Motorcycle safety measures, such as wearing helmets, using reflective gear, and maintaining a safe speed, can help reduce the risk of severe crashes. However, drivers of passenger vehicles must also remain vigilant, check blind spots, and yield appropriately to motorcyclists sharing the road.
