South Park Twp., PA (February 17, 2025) – A crash involving five vehicles resulted in injuries and road closures in South Park Township on Monday.
According to dispatch reports, the collision occurred at the intersection of Central Drive and Brownsville Road Extension. Initially reported as a single-vehicle crash, the incident escalated as additional vehicles lost control and slid into the wrecked car due to icy road conditions.
Library Volunteer Fire Company stated that the first vehicle slid into a fire hydrant. As other drivers approached the area, they were unable to stop on the icy roadway, leading to a chain reaction that involved five vehicles.
Emergency crews, including police, firefighters, and medics from Washington County, responded to assist with the crash. Brownsville Road Extension was shut down between Triphammer and McChain while firefighters worked to clear the scene.
One person sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The severity of their condition has not been disclosed.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the accident and have not released further details.
