South Hill, WA (January 17, 2025) – A fight in a grocery store parking lot led to a multiple-car crash in South Hill on Friday afternoon. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department reported that the incident began at a Safeway parking lot and escalated when one of the individuals involved sped away from the scene.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the fleeing driver struck two other vehicles on State Route 161 near Meridian Avenue. The driver, identified as the causing party, was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. Meridian Avenue was temporarily shut down between 132nd Street East and 128th Street to allow for cleanup and investigation. Authorities have since reopened the roadway.
