South Deerfield, MA (January 8, 2025) – A serious two-vehicle collision on Greenfield Road near the Red Roof Inn early Wednesday morning resulted in four people being transported to the hospital, including a nine-year-old boy and a pregnant woman. The South Deerfield Fire District confirmed that crews responded to the scene at approximately 6:00 AM.
Deerfield Police Chief John Paciorek Jr. stated that the injured individuals were taken to Baystate Medical Center for treatment. Among them, a woman who is over seven months pregnant is undergoing evaluation for a potential emergency birthing process due to the impact of the crash.
The Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, the State Police Detective Unit, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section (CARS), and the Deerfield Police Department are actively investigating the cause of the collision.
Routes 5 and 10 were closed for several hours between 5:50 AM and 9:40 AM as emergency crews worked to clear the scene and conduct their investigation.
