East Bandera, WA (December 19, 2024) – A fatal wrong-way collision on westbound Interstate 90 west of Snoqualmie Pass led to the closure of all lanes for several hours early Thursday morning. The crash occurred near milepost 47 at approximately 6:30 a.m., according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).
WSP Trooper Rick Johnson reported that a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes struck another vehicle head-on. The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was killed in the collision, while the driver of the second vehicle sustained injuries and was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. No further details about the injured driver’s condition were immediately available.
During the closure, traffic was rerouted to the shoulder of the road. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) announced via social media at 9:53 a.m. that the crash site had been cleared and all lanes had reopened.
