Snohomish County, WA (October 1, 2024) – A police pursuit involving a stolen vehicle resulted in injuries to five individuals, including three deputies, on Tuesday morning. The incident began around 6 a.m. when deputies from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a stolen car in the 12000 block of 316th Ave. SE.
Shortly after the report, deputies located the stolen vehicle, prompting a chase that moved through Monroe and continued westbound on US Highway 2. The pursuit came to an end when deputies deployed spike strips on the 14200 block of US 2, successfully stopping the vehicle.
During the chase, three deputies sustained minor injuries due to a collision between their patrol cars. They were subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver of the stolen vehicle, an adult man from Seattle, was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries. Following medical evaluation, he is expected to be booked into the Snohomish County Jail on charges of eluding law enforcement, second-degree assault, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Additionally, a passenger in the stolen vehicle was hospitalized for minor injuries but has since been released. The incident led to the temporary closure of a section of Highway 2, which was reopened before noon, as confirmed by the Washington State Patrol.
