Smyrna, TN (December 3, 2024) – A tragic incident occurred early Sunday morning on Interstate 24 in Rutherford County, resulting in the death of a woman who was struck by two vehicles after being ejected from her own car. The crash happened at approximately 3:30 AM near Mile Marker 70 on I-24 East.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), 32-year-old Dominique Ann Anderson was driving a 2011 Jaguar XF when she lost control of the vehicle. The car ran off the side of the roadway, entered the median, and struck a dirt beam before overturning multiple times. Anderson was ejected from the vehicle and ended up in the westbound lanes of I-24. Shortly after her ejection, an unknown vehicle traveling west struck her and fled the scene. Authorities are actively searching for the driver involved, with charges pending upon further investigation.
Another vehicle, a 2014 Toyota Prius, also struck Anderson but remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, but tragically, Anderson was pronounced dead from her injuries.
